Founded in 1974, Avignonesi is the leading winery in the Montepulciano area of Tuscany and Vino Nobile is their flagship wine. As Rob MacCulloch MW described this wine: “attractively richer than Chianti Classico, yet better value than Brunello di Montalcino, this is one of Italy’s hidden treasures”. Produced with Sangiovese grapes grown in vineyards around the town of Montepulciano in Tuscany, it is brick red in colour, bursting with notes of bright, red fruits, dried violets and hints of savoury spice. The taste is medium-bodied and balanced with luscious acidity and tart cherry flavours, complemented by a long savoury finish.
